Dawn Betts-Green is a doctoral candidate in Library and Information Studies at Florida State University. She received her Master’s in LIS and certificate in Youth Services in 2014 and Bachelor’s in Women’s Studies, Religion, and Creative Writing in 2012, all from FSU. She focuses on LGBTQ young adults and resources in rural public libraries in the southern U.S. but is also interested in social justice and radical librarianship, comics and graphic novels, and children’s and young adult literature in general. She has served on the Rainbow List committee for ALA and works as a bookseller part time. During her master’s degree, she worked as a graduate assistant for the Goldstein Library at FSU, dealing primarily with the youth collections. She is also a member of the 2016 cohort of Point Foundation LGBTQ Scholars. This is her first year with the Florida Book Awards.
